We Can See The Light - We Are DRIED IN
Posted by Key2See Team on April 20, 2021
Episode #10! We have hit Double digits of this sharing time my friends, a milestone… pairing perfectly with the milestone of being DRIED IN!
Framing completed, roof ordered, windows in! Now technically being a source of shelter, my parents have asked when we are moving out? 😊 How could they be sick of us? We told them we were moving in for 12 months and it has now been 2 and half years and a global stay at home pandemic. We have seen a lot of each other to say the least… Thanks mom and dad, we will NEVER forget this I promise.
This is where the fun stuff begins but before I dive in to my latest décor choices, paint colors & interior textures I must stay true to my word and pay tribute to this part of the process. WINDOWS & Doors! Hallelujah we can see the LIGHT and when I say see the light I mean beaming through the crystal clear glass of our Pella Yella. It is truly amazing how the beauty of land that we so eagerly fell in love with and gawked at 3 years prior, all of a sudden is captured through picture frames called windows. That giant Maple with 10 off shoots is perfectly centered out our 18 foot sliding door, the arch of the sun rising and setting beams in through the transom window measuring the entire back side of our house…. Leaving the property in its natural setting rather than overly clearing is now one of my favorite choices yet! What was an open space surrounded by woods is now artistic boxes of green and whimsical Northwest wall art that devours you as you walk through the front door.
Updates on tiny living & RV life?
Well the sun is out here in the PNW so it’s hard to complain. The rig has been brought back down from its temporary home in the mountains and we are gearing up and ready for the next adventure. Spring cleaning is certainly easier in the tiny house… not many places to collect clutter so not much to purge. My daughter has now added make-up and self care products to her daily routine so, Dane has officially and 100% been kicked out of their shared room other than for sleeping.
What’s Next?
Plumbing rough-in is happening as we speak which means I can no longer change my mind as to location of anything in the kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms, pantry or bar. That was a minor panic attack day but now a very settling feeling as we order the fixtures, sinks, toilets and get ready to start working inside. Zach asked me yesterday to come in and figure out where the furniture is going so that we can have the electrical layout completed… bedside outlets, chandelier over dining table, floor outlets and tv locations, so to say that won’t be one of my favorite days in a long time is an understatement. I have wanted to talk furniture since the day we decided to build again answered consistently with “not yet” from Zach, TODAY the “not yet” has changed to “RIGHT NOW” and that my friends means real progress.
Siding has been selected, interior subs scheduled….
My dreams are now consumed with
- wallpaper,
- paint colors,
- lighting,
- and details details details.
- The large decisions are done, now is the time to truly focus. Door swings, lighting angles, colors colors and more colors. I hope to come to you next time with the true interior design, concrete floors, walls and the beginnings of Zach’s custom cabinets!
Shout Out:
Our friend Keith (with Pella NW) sat us down and helped us envision what we would be looking at through each window. He helped us decide on not only the style but the sizes, the openings for proper ventilation of the breeze, all that have truly brought our outdoor landscape in. My vision is 100% in place, when I walk in I truly feel how we will live in each room. If you’re in the process of designing and building…. Do NOT I repeat do NOT just take the window placements as they are on your plans…. Go to your site, stand where the window will be… add one to view a special tree, make one larger if that is where the sun shines the brightest. Think about it, because it’s really really important! And if you’re not comfortable making those decisions find someone who is…. I’ve got Keith’s number and he’ll gladly meet you on site, pour him a glass of red and he will help bring your home NEXT Level.
Welcome to our story! Stay tuned for more to come as we patiently wait to start the INTERIOR design! It is our hope to keep you intrigued and also answer questions you might have throughout this process… or maybe just maybe make you feel not so crazy as you go through this process yourself. Feel free to ask us anything!
